UX Designer at Unbiased

I am increasingly intrigued how the human centred process I learned with physical product design can be applied to intangible experiences. Over the past year as a UX designer I have been:

I have worked with developers to ensure that potential technical limitations do not undermine the strategic goals of a project. For example, on a project to remove friction from the self-serve sign up flow, I worked with developers to understand the technical limitations of our payment processor and built solutions that worked within those constraints. Working within an agile environment encourages collaboration and catching problems sooner.

When I joined the company, most in the business did not understand the role of design and had misconceptions about it being just to "draw pretty pictures". I took the initiative to create a presentation explaining the role user-centred design had and the benefits it could provide users and the business.

I championed a move towards speaking to users to identify pain-points and soliciting feedback for prototypes by conducting usability tests. I am keen to experiment with ideas by prototyping using whatever tools the task requires — learning by iteration and fast-failure — in order to identify root causes, test functionality and deliver the optimal human-centred experience.
